Tehran, July 15, IRNA - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran exercised vigilance toward the US lack of commitment to the international conventions over the past two years and successfully indicated that the United States is law breaker.
Iran thwarted the US attempt to prove that Iran is guilty for making the July 2015 nuclear deal, President Rouhani said at the cabinet session this morning.
The president made the remarks on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of signing a nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015, between Iran and the six world powers- US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany.
Of course, US is no longer a participant in the deal as it withdrew from it unilaterally on May 8, 2018.
Basis of Iranian diplomatic campaign (nuclear agreement) was to prove to the world that Iran is a peace-loving nation and to unravel the US and Zionist regime attempt to misportray Iran as a security threat, the president noted.
Such diplomatic campaign had three opponents including the US extremists, reactionary states and the Zionist regime of Israel, said the president, describing those three as a sinister triangle.
However, they were unsuccessful in annihilating the 2015 nuclear deal, aka Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he added.
When they saw that the JCPOA is useful to Iran and the entire region, they came to the field with more power in vain to put pressure on Iran for exit from the deal, then they would have proved that Iran was the one withdrew from the deal, the president added.
President Rouhani said that the current US administration cannot be trustworthy for anything as it has already left different international agreements including Paris Climate Agreement and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
US through different measures was to put Iran's national security in danger, but all those measures were foiled after reaching the 2015 nuclear agreement, the president stressed.
He said that no one can criticize Iran for its measures as the country has always been moving in line with International Law and norms and ethical criteria.
Today, there is not only a question of serving Iran's interests or its relations with regional countries but also respecting the International Law, multilateralism and international agreements, said the president warning against dangers of the US unilateral policies.
