London, June 1, IRNA - Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Vienna-based International Organizations Kazem Gharibabadi said that Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi has sent a letter to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Speaking to reporters, Gharibabadi said the letter which is in fact a response to last week's letter of Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi refers to both sides phone conversation on the prospect of joint technical understanding which expired on May 24.
This time, Iran has decided not to extend the joint technical understanding but will continue saving data for one month aiming to make progress in Iran-IAEA technical talks, the letter reads.
Gharibabadi added that the letter also referred to Iran-IAEA interactions with regard to safeguards agreement.
According to Salehi's letter, Iran has so far done its best with regard to its cooperation with the IAEA in content-based method by presenting elaborations and necessary responses.
Iran welcomes the IAEA readiness for maintaining active interaction with Iran aiming to solve some safeguard issues with no delay.
Iran seriously expects mutual interactions to bring about practical results.
An agreement between Iran and the IAEA provided that Iran would allow the IAEA to keep cameras installed in Iran's nuclear facilities recording for another three months, but the recordings wouldn't be available to the IAEA until US sanctions against Iran were removed.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council issued a statement on May 24 announcing the extension of the three-month agreement with the IAEA.
The statement, however, said that Iran will still stop the voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol based on a parliament law to protect the interests of the Iranian nation.
