Iran should safeguard its good tradition in power transition: Gov spox

Tehran, IRNA – Government Spokesman Ali Rabiei said that the incumbent administration would deliver its experience in the form of a plan to the upcoming administration, emphasizing that Iran has a good tradition in power transition that should be safeguarded.

Referring to the June 18 presidential election, Rabiei told in an online press conference on Tuesday that the holding itself, the election, and people’s participation were a BIG NO to those were trying to sanction the election.

Rabiei said that President Hassan Rouhani has instructed its cabinet to work with the president-elect Ebrahim Raisi to convey this administration’s experience to the new administration.

President Rouhani payed a visit to Raisi and told him that his administration was ready to provide him with any information required for the transition period.

US intervention in Iran’s internal affairs

Government spokesman responded to the US Secretary of State’s remarks on presidential election in Iran, saying that such remarks are nothing new and Iran considers them as intervention in its internal affairs and in contrast with the international law.

Rabiei reminded that such criticism has been made about the US elections, like what Democrats said in 2000 and Donald Trump said in 2020.
