Envoy urges facilitating Iranian students, businessmen's return to Russia

Moscow, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador in Moscow Kazem Jalali called for paving the way for the return of Iranian students and businessmen who had gone home due to COVID-19 pandemic to Russia.

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Shulginov, Jalali said that both side discussed bilateral issues in oil, energy, Sirik power plant, and joint projects.

He also referred to problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic for visa issuance for businessmen, saying that in spite of the Russian government efforts, no progress has been made in this regard.  

He noted that based on both sides’ agreement, the 16th joint economic cooperation commission meeting will be held in person in Moscow.

During the meeting which was held on Friday, Shulginov referred to the joint projects in oil, gas, energy, railway, and peaceful energy fields, hoping for further development of relations during new Iranian president's term of office.

He pointed to Sirik gas-fired power plant in Iran and stressed continuation of cooperation in energy field.

Meanwhile, Jalali assured that new Iranian government will put reinforcing convergence with Russiaon its agenda.

He also hailed Sputnik-V COVID-19 vaccine joint production in Iran.
