Baghdad, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi met with several sheikhs of Iraqi tribes on Sunday, in the wake of al-Adha and al-Ghadir eves.
In the meeting which was held in Iran’s embassy in Baghdad, Masjedi said that the sheikhs’ attendance in the meeting was a sign of strong ties between the people of the two countries.
Saying that they would never forget Iran's supports for the people of Iraq in tough times, the sheikhs appreciated Iran for its material and spiritual assistance and its role in fighting the ISIS and terrorism.
They also asked the ambassador to help organize a meeting with Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
