In his message to Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo, Raisi expressed congratulations on the 76th anniversary of Indonesia independence.
He hoped that thanks to friendly and historical relations between the two countries and its constructive effect on the international norms, namely preserving international peace and stability and fighting unilateralism, the friendly cooperation would be developed and a new chapter would be opened in bilateral ties.
He also wished health and success for Indonesian counterpart and happiness and dignity for people of Indonesia.
The Proclamation of Indonesian Independence was read on Friday, August 17, 1945.
The declaration marked the start of the diplomatic and armed resistance of the Indonesian National Revolution, fighting against the forces of the Netherlands and pro-Dutch civilians, until the latter officially acknowledged Indonesia's independence in 1949.
In 2005, the Netherlands declared that they had decided to accept de facto 17 August 1945 as Indonesia's independence date.
