Agreement in Vianna talks depends on other side’s serious will: Bagheri Kani

Iran's highest priority in the Vienna talks is to remove all unlawful and outrageous sanctions imposed against the Iranian nation over the past years, Bagheri Kani pointed out.

The sanctions imposed and re-imposed against Iran have violated international law and regulations as well as international principles.

The imposed sanctions are inconsistent with the JCPOA, he said, adding they are inconsistent with UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

Any sanctions that violate the JCPOA should be lifted immediately, whether they were imposed under Obama or Trump or Biden, all of them should be removed, he said, adding that this includes all sanctions related to the JCPOA. They should also be removed.

In addition to the Islamic Republic of Iran, other P4+1 countries and even the new U.S. administration all agree on this, acknowledging that the previous U.S. administration took unlawful action to exit from the JCPOA, which is why the Biden administration wants to return to the 2015 deal, he underlined.

Asked about the contradictory behaviors and positions of Joe Biden's administration, which is imposing new sanctions during negotiations despite expressing a desire to return to the JCPOA, Bagheri said that this is a contradictory and double standard policy of the US.

The U.S. government should explain their behavior, he stated, adding that the serious process of negotiations to lift sanctions has not yet started on the issue of lifting sanctions.

Commenting on western and Zionist regime allies' claims about the nature of Iran's nuclear program, Bagheri Kani said that all of Iran's nuclear activities are carried out within the framework of the NPT and safeguards agreements.

All of Iran's nuclear activities are comprehensively subject to IAEA inspections, he said, noting that Iran has no secret nuclear activities.

Earlier today, Bagheri Kani in a message stressed the fact that some actors persist in blame game habit, instead of real diplomacy.

"Some actors persist in their blame game habit, instead of real diplomacy," Bagheri Kani wrote in his Twitter account.

"We proposed our ideas early, & worked constructively & flexibly to narrow gaps; diplomacy is a 2 way street," he added.

"If there's real will to remedy the culprit's wrongdoing, way for quick good deal will be paved," he noted.
