A senior official in Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (REEEO) told IRNA on Monday that he had a meeting with the representatives of the Dutch Embassy in Tehran and a Chinese state company at a renewable energy expo in Iran and that they demanded participating in the development of renewable energy plants in Iran.
Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigarudi said that the Chinese company expressed willingness to invest in Iran’s renewable energy sector both in plant equipment production and power generation.
Foreign investors seek reassuring conditions for their investment in Iran due to sanctions and restrictions imposed against Iran, Sigarudi said.
He also noted that foreign investors demand assurances that their investment will be protected in the country and they will be able to bring their investment return back to their home country.
REEEO has set regulations that allow foreign investors to work with Iranian companies directly or through a partnership, according to Sigarudi.
Foreign investors must register a company in Iran if they’re willing to invest in the country through power purchase agreements (PPA), as said by the official.
