In a Wednesday meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Qin said presidents of China and Iran had held some fruitful talks a day earlier in Beijing, adding that the talks had resulted in broad and important consensus and injected strong impetus into the development of bilateral relations.
China’s official Xinhua News Agency quoted Qin as saying in the meeting with Amirabdollahian that China stands ready to work with Iran to deepen practical cooperation and to strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
He added that China will also work to implement the consensus reached in the presidential meeting on Tuesday and will push for new progress on the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership.
Qin went on to say that Iran and China should strengthen coordination and cooperation on international and regional affairs, make joint efforts to promote enduring peace and stability in the region, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries and international fairness and justice.
China’s top diplomat also stressed that his country will continue to promote the political and diplomatic settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue while calling on other international parties involved in the process to make active efforts toward this end.
For his part, the Iranian foreign minister said in the meeting with Qin that Iran attaches great importance to its relations with China.
Amirabdollahian said that Iran is ready to work with China to implement the important agreements reached between presidents of the two countries in their meeting on Tuesday and to ensure the comprehensive cooperation plan of the two countries will achieve more results.
The top Iranian diplomat and his counterpart also discussed the latest progress in negotiations meant to revive a 2015 international deal on Iran’s nuclear program which is technically known as the JCPOA.
He further appreciated China’s constructive role in JCPOA revival talks.
