“The US had interests in launching wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but their ultimate target was the Islamic Iran,” said Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with a group of Iranian army commanders in Tehran on Sunday.
Ayatollah Khamanei said, however, that the US failed in its plots mainly because of Iran’s strength which he said was inspired by the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
“Thus, the enemy is conquerable despite all its robust calculations and its military power,” said the Supreme Leader.
Describing the current situation of the Zionist regime as another example of such failures, he highlighted that the anti-Palestinian operation of the regime during Ramadan in the last year did not receive a specific reaction in the world, but this year there are demonstrations against its crimes, even in the US and the UK.
One must realize that the enemies are defeatable, Ayatollah Khamenei said, calling for paying attention to the foes' plans and plots.
At the end of his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei called on the centers and intellectual elements of the armed forces to design permanent and innovative strong, rational, and constructive strategies and policies.
Prior to the remarks of the Supreme Leader, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri reported on the plans and actions of the armed forces in various dimensions.
